【Project introduction】
The Hengqin Cultural & Arts Complex, designed by Atelier Apeiron Architects, is a comprehensive urban citizen cultural and art service center with a unique urban space created through three continuous arched halls and a stepped urban garden on the roof. The Atelier Apeiron Architects focuses on organically combining architecture with the environment, society, and culture, and reconnecting architecture, cities, and nature. This project fully expresses their core design philosophy of “derived from nature and integrated with humanity”.
【Design process】
QZY Models was commissioned to produce a final showcase model for Hengqin Cultural & Arts Complex. To test the effect of the facade’s texture, rooftop garden plants, and overall material selection, a partial small-scale sample model was designed and produced for a week. After confirmation with the client, the formal production began and lasted for two weeks, successfully delivering a satisfactory finished model.
【Project characteristics】
The main building structure used a steel frame-shear wall with fully covered white glass curtain walls to achieve a uniform and delicate exterior facade. For the rooftop garden, a detailed vegetation classification design was used, and hand-made production was chosen for a more exquisite and rich layered effect.
